Add one of these each side of the boat to take the snap out of the steer and to keep the steering cable taut.

This telescopic tiller arm extension allows you to get as far away from the outboard as is safe whilst maintaining control of the throttle. With a simple push over fitting it clamps on to the twist grip throttle, it will fit all outboards of 2.5 hp and larger (Except Honda 2.3-2.5).
